In this chapter we have presented the Moose Reengineering Environment. Its facilities for storing, querying and navigating information, its extensibility and the set of services it provides, make it a solid foundation for reengineering tools. This is shown by Moose-based tools such as Supremo, Gaudi and CodeCrawler. In this thesis Moose, the tools and the case studies have the main function to validate that FAMIX successfully supports multiple cooperating reengineering tools. In this context we can make the following observations. Firstly, Moose's built-in services and the Moose-based tools show that FAMIX successfully supports a whole range of reverse engineering tasks. They also validate the language independence of FAMIX: the Moose-based tools have been applied without adaptation on systems in different implementation languages. Furthermore, as the above discussion of the tool environment requirements shows, FAMIX supports information exchange and extensibility well and the amount of information generated for FAMIXbased models so far does not exceed the scalability needs of the tools. The case studies show the limitations of FAMIX as well. Currently it does not support grouping and full multiple model support in FAMIX. These are both features we have already implemented and used in Moose. Other FAMIX features, such as the ability to incrementally load information, are available but not heavily used. Furthermore, the way information is structured in FAMIX does not favour information navigation. This is, however, a conscious design decision based on trade-offs between navigability on one side and support for information exchange, incremental loading and minimisation of redundant information on the other side. Additionally to the validation of FAMIX, this chapter presents a set general set of requirements for reengineering environments. We have analysed Moose according to these requirements. Furthermore, we describe the lessons we have learned while building Moose and while performing the case studies. Summarizing the in-depth discussion of section 5.9, we can make the following observations: Multiple tools are needed to get useful results. Understanding a system quickly requires the ability to create different viewpoints and the application of multiple problem detection techniques. Good old code browsing is an important part of this process. Scalability is crucial to deal with the typical large ; size of legacy systems. Not only must a tool be able to handle the vast amounts of information, but it must be responsive as well. Tools need to be extensible and adaptable to deal with the specific requirements of reengineering projects. Language-independence has proven itself useful and worthwhile. The same tools have been used on Java, C + and Smalltalk without adaptation. Note that most of the tools and also the case studies cover reverse engineering activities only. System restructuring, in particular refactoring, is the focus of the next two chapters. They present an analysis of fifteen refactorings for Smalltalk and Java in the context of language independence. The analysis is based on the FAMIX metamodel. The analysis firstly shows that language-independent refactoring is feasible. At the same time it provides an in-depth validation of the language-independence of FAMIX.

I have argued in this paper that in a language which marks focus prosodically, the prosodic behaviour of a moved wh-phrase can be taken as an indication of whether the language is a focus-fronting language or a wh-movement language. I have also proposed that partial wh-movement with scope-marking in the matrix clause cannot occur in a non-wh-movement language and one lacking a scope-marking in the matrix clause cannot occur in a wh-movement language. It was argued that the "partial wh-movement" found in Hindi should be treated as a separate phenomenon. To further evaluate these claims, one needs to look at the prosodic behaviour of wh-questions in a wider range of languages and other claimed cases of partial wh-movement in non-wh-movement languages. Finally, it would be interesting to put together the two ideas and study the prosodic behaviour of `partial' wh-movement constructions in search for a clue to their syntax. References.

The changes in gastric secretion, motility and adaptive cytoprotection in the upper tract are likely to be associated with alcohol ethanol, vine spirits ; ingestion. Alcohol active pathways are connected with concentration of intracellular Ca2 + in parietal cells, by histamine release from ECL cells and by acetylcholine-dependent mechanisms, etc. The aim of recent investigation was to analyse role of 1-cholinergic receptors and L-2 + channels in gastric secretion and mucosal defence in rats with ethanol-induced gastric mucosal lesions. The experiments were carried out on the urethane anaesthetised rats. The stomach was perfused with physiologic saline and pH, debit of H + ions and pepsin concentration were determined. Gastric mucosal lesions were developed immediately after 2 minutes of 50% ethanol perfusion. Gastrocepine 6 mg kg i.v. ; , is known to be agonist 1-cholinergic receptors, was used alone and with and L-2 + channels blocker verapamile 1.25 mg kg i.v. ; . Perfusion of gastric lumen with 50 % ethanol inhibited debit H + ions by 30 % p 0.05 ; compared with base level. Decrease of pepsin concentration was not so significant 16 %, p 0.05 ; . The 50 % ethanol exposure resulted both the gross mucosal injury erosions, haemorrhagic ; and hyperemia on 17 % and 61 % areas of rat glandular mucosa accordingly. Significant inhibition of gastric secretion by 18 % p 0.05 ; on 30 min. and by 30 % p 0.01 ; on 60 min was associated with prior i.v. administration of L-Ca2 + channels blocker verapamile. There were not changes in pepsin level during the hour after ethanol administration. L-Ca2 + channels inhibition enhanced the development of gross haemorrhagic erosions caused by ethanol up to 34 % 0.05 ; . Pretreatment with M1-cholinergic receptor antagonist gastrocepine did not prevent the ethanol-induced injury. Gross mucosal haemorrhagic lesions were not attenuated by prior i.v. administration of gastrocepine, but hyperemia area was reduced insignificant. In this case gastrocepine was found to depress H + ions output in great manner 50 %, p 0.05 ; and did not changed pepsin level. Simultaneous action of gastrocepine and verapamile attenuated the gastric mucosal lesions up to 10 % 0.05 ; comparably with the verapamile action alone. Acid secretion was inhibited by 23 % p 0.05 ; and pepsin concentration by 12 and milrinone.

2004 Overview Continued As a result of these actions and improved industry conditions, Dow substantially increased earnings and reduced net debt in 2004. There is not universal agreement, however, on the optimal site of TDI measurement: some centers record motion of the lateral mitral annulus LMA ; while others favor the septal mitral annulus SMA ; . Abnormal septal motion "post-op septum" ; is often seen after cardiopulmonary bypass CPB ; , though ejection fraction EF ; , end-systolic, and end-diastolic volumes are generally unchanged. If TDI measurements of the SMA are selectively affected by CPB, assessment of diastolic function could be adversely affected. In this study, we analyzed mitral annular TDI measurements following CPB and compared these to changes in patients undergoing off-pump cardiac surgery. METHODS: We prospectively studied 8 CPB and 7 off-pump pts. Echocardiography was performed 4 3 days before surgery and again 31 7 days after. Velocity of early diastolic mitral annular motion Em ; , transmitral E A ratio, and ejection fraction EF ; were measured in the apical 4-chamber view & compared using Wilcoxon signed ranks test. Patients served as their own controls. RESULTS: SMA Em velocity in CPB pts decreased significantly after surgery, while there was a nonsignificant increase in off-pump patients. LMA Em, E A, & EF were unaffected by CPB, while these parameters trended upward in the off-pump group although the baseline systolic and diastolic parameters of the off-pump group were depressed compared to the CPB group ; . CONCLUSION: Cardiac surgery with CPB is associated with a statistically significant 20% decrease in SMA Em velocity, despite no change in LMA Em velocity, E A, or EF. Of note, this decrease in SMA Em is not seen following off-pump cardiac surgery. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Measurement of SMA Em velocity is not recommended for routine assessment of diastolic function after CPB. This parameter may, however, retain its clinical utility after off-pump cardiac surgery. 17.5 % and 4. FS 10%. ; Effusion was divided in 3 groups mild, moderate and severe ; . The PALIScope Passive Acoustic Lung Imaging ; is a bedside, noninvasive radiation-free device that provides dynamic functional and potentially structural lung imaging. Our purpose was to evaluate the PALIScope technology in the diagnosis, management and monitoring of CHF patients with various degrees of pulmonary congestion. METHODS: Nine patients Age, avg. 66 11 y ; with severe CHF due to systolic LV dysfunction NYHA class II, III, ; were enrolled. Each patient was assessed three times on admission, 4 hours following treatment and before hospital discharge ; by physician, pulse-oximetry and PALIScope. On admission and prior to discharge, CXR, Blood tests and Echocardiography were performed. The PALIScope images are based on the lungs acoustic response during a breathing cycle. The acoustic energy is collected simultaneously by 40 sensors that are adhered to the patient's back. PALIScope images were compared to nine healthy controls. RESULTS: The underlying reason for CHF was acute MI five patients ; and dilated cardiomyopathy four patients ; . All patients were dyspneic RR 25 3 min ; . Lung crepitations, wheezing and peripheral edema were noted in nine, three and five patients respectively. CXR revealed Lung congestion and pleural effusion in seven and two patients respectively. Analysis of the PALIScope image by three independent observers revealed: On Admission: Lung ventilation was markedly reduced in all patients. Ventilation of lower lobes was intensely affected relative to other lobes. Sequence of lung air-flow was disynchronous. Ventilation of one lung in five patients was intensely affected as compared to the other lung. Effective treatment was associated with remarkable improvement in all aforementioned parameters. CONCLUSION: Acoustic lungs imaging may provide accurate noninvasive radiation-free method for diagnosis, management and monitoring CHF patients. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Fluid retention and volume overload are implicit to CHF, therefore temporal changes evaluation in pulmonic vascular engorgement, interstitial and alveolar edema are desirable.
