The objective of this study was to determine the influence of LTP I on the plasma lipoprotein distribution of CSA. Our data suggests that LTP I appear to have a direct role in the distribution of CSA among plasma lipoproteins. This is similar to our observations with AmpB Wasan et al., 1994; Wasan and Lopez-Berestein, 1995 ; . However, unlike AmpB, the transfer of CSA between HDL and LDL appears to be only partially dependent on LTP I-facilitated transfer of CE. We have previously demonstrated that the distribution of AmpB among HDL and LDL after incubation in human plasma is facilitated by LTP I. However, once AmpB was incorporated into liposomes composed of negatively charged and neutral phospholipids, the ability of LTP I to transfer AmpB and 3H-CE from HDL to LDL diminished Wasan et al., 1994; Wasan and Lopez-Berestein, 1995 ; . We concluded from these studies that because AmpB interacts with free cholesterol and CE upon incubation in plasma Wasan et al., 1993; Bolard et al., 1980 ; , LTP I's ability to transfer AmpB between HDL and LDL was due to its ability to transfer CE between HDL and LDL and not due to the direct transfer of AmpB between lipoprotein fractions. In the case of CSA increases in LTP I concentration resulted in an increased percentage of CSA recovered in the HDL LPDP fraction during short-term incubations fig. 1 ; . As LTP I is the protein which catalyzes the transfer exchange of CE from CE-rich lipoproteins HDL and LDL ; for TG from TG-rich lipoproteins VLDL ; , these findings suggest that CSA plasma distribution may be related to its lipoprotein-lipid content. Study population This study was designed to evaluate the effects of vaginal micronized progesterone on bleeding following HCG administration in IVFICSI procedures. A retrospective analysis was conducted of the computerized medical records of 149 consecutive women who had undergone ICSI between January 1 and April 30, 1996. Women were eligible for review if they had completed a routine assisted reproductionICSI procedure [using `long-protocol' stimulation with buserelinhuman menopausal gonadotrophin HMG ; within the specified time period] and had received vaginal micronized progesterone for luteal phase supplementation without oestrogen or HCG supplements. No restrictions were placed on age, weight or the subsequent outcome of the assisted reproduction procedure. Collection of information on bleeding pattern During the luteal phase all patients were systematically instructed to have routine contact by telephone with the nursing staff to enquire about their hormonal profile, to report on eventual side-effects and to state whether any abnormal vaginal bleeding had occurred. The data were recorded in writing from the telephone conversation directly onto the patients' individual charts kept in the laboratory and were then transferred to a computer operator to input. In the third week after oocyte retrieval, all patients were contacted by a senior scientist to receive their instructions on eventual follow-up of pregnancy, and in cases of no pregnancy, the first day of the menstrual bleeding was also notified. Treatment protocol Women whose charts were reviewed for this study had been allocated to ICSI for two reasons: a partner with a low sperm count defined as 500 000 progressively motile spermatozoa in the total ejaculate ; or failure on at least two previous IVF attempts defined as 5% fertilization ; . Only application of albendazol in a paste form consisting of 333 mg in 1 ml ALBAZOL ; , which was given to the affected cats during four days at the dose of 1 ml per 5 kg of body weight, was fully effective. The application itself as well as tolerance of this treatment was without any problems. On coprology during the third to fourth day of treatment, Dicrocoelium eggs in intensity of 1-2 were still found. The eggs completely vanished in all cats 3 to 4 days after finishing the treatment. We were not able to detect any eggs even after a longer interval of about one month to three years. In a week after finishing the albendazol treatment, the inflammatory changes of conjunctiva began to recede and the protrusion of the third eyelid was diminishing and in 2 cats after 14 days, and in 1 cat after 3 weeks, it disappeared completely. Shortly after the end of treatment as well as 10-14 days later, the appetite of all cats improved. In about a month the nutritional status of the cats returned to normal. There were other 12 cats in which the clinical manifestation was similar to that in the three cats mentioned above. We were, however, unable to obtain faeces for examination from any of these patients. When the symptomatic treatment, including control of common parasitic infections, remained ineffective and the described clinical status, the changes of the eyes, in particular, persisted, we treated these cats for four days with albendazole and in 9 cases there was a complete cure within the same period as in the three patients with confirmed dicrocoeliosis. Dicrocoeliosis in dogs During 34 years of practice in Zziwil, we were able to find Dicrocoelium eggs using coprology in 377 dogs. Different breeds were affected. Most of them were from the closest vicinity of our practice, where the infestation of the main hosts for this parasite i.e., cattle, sheep, goats, horses, rabbits ; was severe. We assumed that, with the known coprophagy of dogs, it is a secondary passage of eggs due to feeding on faeces of infected hosts. It was fully confirmed in 294 dogs because of negative subsequent coprological results. In other dogs, in which excrements for subsequent examinations were not available, the clinical status proved that findings of those eggs could have been associated with the infection of the dogs. At the beginning of 2001 in a short time period, we managed to identify and observe two cases of dicrocoeliosis in the dogs. Other six cases were identified until the end of 2004. The infection of all 8 dogs was confirmed by the first finding of Dicrocoelium eggs in the intensity of 1-3 and the subsequent examinations resulting in the same findings. Five dogs were born and reared in Switzerland, three were imported as puppies from the Czech Republic. Considering the fact that those three dogs were several times examined with negative coprological results right after their import, we may assume that they became infected with Dicrocoelium in Switzerland. The clinical manifestation of dicrocoeliosis in all dogs was characterised by alteration of the digestive apparatus. Dogs suffered from changes in the peristalsis, vomiting, diarrhoea, colic states, heavy pains and distinct subicterus. Skin lesions were apparent in four patients pruritus, eczemas, alopecia, interdigital dermatitis ; . Half of the clinically sick dogs quickly lost weight, temperament and working performance. The therapy of dicrocoeliosis was based on our experience with treating cats. Only repeated therapeutic doses of the effective drug can lead to permanent recovery. Albendazole was used in 6 dogs, and praziquantel in 2 dogs. We administered albendazole in a paste containing 333 mg in 1 ml like in the cats - ALBAZOL ; . We administered it by oral route at the dose of 1 ml per 5 kg of body weight and day during 4 to 5 consecutive days. For the treatment with praziquantel we used the Drontal plus tablets containing 50 mg of praziquantel + 50 mg of pyrantel + 150 mg of febantel in one tablet. Two tablets per 10 kg of body weight for four days were administered to two dogs. Treatment was started in these dogs soon after the appearance of clinical symptoms and all of them made a full recovery and questran.

Although NEP inhibitors have been reported to lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension, 24 31 this finding has not been universal.19, 3235 Thus, the therapeutic value of NEP inhibitors in hypertension remains uncertain. In patients with heart failure, these agents do not reduce afterload although they do reduce pulmonary capillary wedge pressure, presumably because of natriuresis.17, 36 and qvar.
One cycle versus repeated cycles with HIDAC was not examined. Due to this heterogeneity in autografts, Ara-C dose, and number of HIDAC cycles, we think that the data in the EBMT study should be interpreted with care. The EBMT study concluded that HIDAC should be avoided prior to autotransplantation because this treatment had "a major disadvantage of prolonging the delay to platelet recovery compared with standard-dose Ara-C." This delay was observed by Bishop et al. [4] who combined HIDAC with etoposide and daunorubicine but, despite the delay, HIDAC was associated with a significantly higher AML-free survival. In the study reported by Mayer et al. [3] HIDAC was used alone, and no major difference in the percentage of courses requiring platelet transfusions was detected when comparing Ara-C 3 g m2 86% ; and 400 mg m2 80% ; . The time until platelet recovery was not given in a randomized study by Kern et al. [5], but these authors also reported that recovery from critical cytopenia did not differ between patients treated with mitoxantron combined with Ara-C 3 g m2 and 1 g m2. Furthermore, hematopoietic reconstitution is usually observed within an acceptable time period for most patients transplanted with PBSC mobilized by HIDAC plus growth factors, although the initial studies suggest that late platelet reconstitution remains a problem for a minority of patients [1]. Thus, in our opinion the question of platelet reconstitution should not be decisive when considering the use of HIDAC together with autotransplantation in future clinical trials.

One short-term human study examined the effect of 600 mg day of IP on accelerated bone loss caused by Paget's disease, a genetically linked bone disease characterized by skeletal deformity and bone pain. Paget's disease of the bone, breast cancer and prostate cancer have many endocrinologic and morphologic features in common. Sixteen patients with active Paget's disease were given either 1, 200 mg IP a day in four divided doses for one month and then a month of 600 mg day of IP in three divided doses, or the reverse, with a 15-day "washout" period in between. Both doses suppressed bone pain and BRM. The 1, 200-mg daily dose regimen more significantly reduced bone pain.13 Clinical trials of high dose IP 1200 mg per day ; should be considered for treating the bone pain of prostate and breast cancers and rapamune.
