SCT 16 9 page 40 180. The Delegation of Norway referred to the suggestion made at the fifteenth session of the SCT, that the Standing Committee initiate work on a design law treaty. The Delegation felt that the development of a treaty containing provisions to regulate formalities, maximum requirements for design applications, filing date and other aspects, would be of great benefit for applicants, designers, trade circles, agents and national offices. Uniform design legislation would make the design system more user-friendly, efficient and cheaper. The Delegation suggested that this item be further discussed in the next meeting of the SCT. The Delegation proposed that SCT Members exchange with each other information on their practices regarding design registration in order to define areas where a harmonization could be achieved. As a result of that exercise, it might be concluded whether the SCT should undertake work towards guidelines, a joint recommendation, or perhaps a design law treaty. 181. The Representative of the European Community informed the SCT that the process of accession of the European Community to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs was almost completed. The European Community intended to deposit its instrument of accession at the latest by the end 2007. Furthermore, the Representative expressed support for the proposal of the Delegation of Norway to initiate work on the harmonization of formalities in the field of industrial design. This work was considered useful and could result in a treaty for designs similar to the Singapore Treaty on the Law of Trademarks. The Representative believed that the requirements regarding the filing date could be a starting point for further harmonization. 182. The Delegation of Denmark supported the proposal made by the Delegation of Norway to exchange information on practices concerning formalities for design registration. 183. The Delegation of Germany also supported the proposals made by the Delegation of Norway and the Representative of the European Community. The Delegation noted that areas for harmonization of design registration formalities and procedures should be explored and an exchange of information on different design registration systems would be a good basis for the future work of the SCT. 184. The Delegation of Latvia joined previous delegations in supporting the proposal made by the Delegation of Norway. 185. The Representative of MARQUES supported the proposal of the Delegation of Norway. The Representative expressed particular interest in discussing in the SCT the harmonization of requirements concerning the reproduction of designs, the filing of multiple applications and the deferment of publication. The Representative noted that the date of publication was of vital importance for the design owners. 186. The Representative of CEIPI, speaking also on behalf of ATRIP, supported the idea of initiating work towards the harmonization of national and regional legislations on design formalities and procedures. The Representative recalled that applicants were often individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises, for which differences in national and regional practices created particular difficulties. 187. The Delegation of Japan stated that it did not oppose the exploration of issues concerning design procedures in the SCT. However, the Delegation, explained that the scope of protection of designs varied from country to country and as a consequence, the content of applications and the drawings were different. Background: Central diabetes insipidus CDI ; results from deficient vasopressin antidiuretic hormone ; secretion and causes polydipsia and polyuria. Desmopressin, a synthetic analog of vasopressin, is the drug of choice in the treatment of CDI, but in mild cases, there are alternative drugs that can be used, including chlorpropamide, carbamazepine, and thiazides. Methods: In this study, we investigated the efficacy of treatment with indapamide, which is an antihypertensive diuretic oral agent, in 20 consecutive patients with CDI. The diagnosis of CDI was established by waterdeprivation and vasopressin tests. Before the study, serum and urinary osmolality, daily urinary volume, and serum electrolyte levels were measured in all 20 patients. Indapamide 2.5 mg d ; was administered for 10.

Xolair: Sales growth was primarily driven by increased penetration in the asthma market and, to a lesser extent, by pricing increases in 2005 and 2006. Outside the US, Xolair is marketed by Novartis. In the first half of 2007 Genentech expects to complete the acquisition of Tanox, its partner in the development of Xolair. Bonviva Boniva: The vast majority of sales come from the US, where Boniva has now captured approximately 15% market share total prescriptions ; . Bonviva has been granted reimbursement and was launched in many European markets during 2006. Lucentis: Following US approval on 30 June 2006, initial sales were driven by high demand among existing age-related macular degeneration AMD ; patients previously on other therapies and use by newly diagnosed patients. Outside the US, Lucentis is marketed by Novartis. Rocephin: Sales continued to decline rapidly in the US following the patent expiry in July 2005. As US sales are now significantly lower, the marginal effect of the generic competition is now abating. In North America, sales grew more than three times above the market, driven by products marketed by Genentech Avastin, Herceptin, Lucentis, MabThera Rituxan, Tarceva and Xolair ; as well as Tamiflu, Bonviva Boniva, CellCept, Xeloda and Valcyte Cymevene. Together these more than compensated for the over 450 million Swiss francs decline in US sales of Rocephin following the US patent expiry in July 2005. In Europe the Group continued to gain market share, driven by continuing strong sales growth of Herceptin, Tamiflu, Avastin, MabThera Rituxan, Tarceva, Pegasys, Xeloda and NeoRecormon. Sales in Japan declined by 1% due to the biennial government-mandated price cuts effective 1 April 2006. There was growth in Tamiflu sales in Japan, where government pandemic sales more than compensated for lower seasonal flu sales. Sales growth for Herceptin, Neutrogin and Evista was mainly offset by a decline in Epogin sales. These declined due to the biennial price cuts and new rules introducing flat-rate reimbursement for epoetin products used in dialysis patients, which has reduced the size of the anemia market as a whole in Japan. From water to the signal weaker. This is compensated for by simply adding the pure-water reference spectrum in the appropriate proportion to achieve a level baseline, particularly over the hydrocarbon stretching band below 3000 cm-1, and the band close to 1640 cm-1. In these bands water stretching vibrations and bending vibrations, respectively, are significant. A detailed description of procedure to compensate for the effect of water is provided in [89]. The DFT calculations provide all the vibrational modes that exist infrared as well as Raman active ; , but the in situ measurements only give values between about 900 cm-1 and 3500 cm-1. The main reason for the cutoff at 900 cm-1 in the experiments is that the germanium crystal absorbs the signal below 900 cm-1, and the CaF2 window below 1000 cm-1. For the calculated modes, therefore, only vibrations above 1000 cm-1 are assigned. In experimental as well as modelled spectra, the molecule has no frequencies above 3100 cm-1 and scopolamine.
