The dramatic 94% response rate for complete or partial symptom amelioration supports the effectiveness of the nonsystemic antibiotic rifaximin in treating and managing SIBO symptoms in patients receiving RT. The results of this retrospective study warrant additional investigation into the prevalence of SIBO as a complication of chemoradiotherapy and the benefit of rifaximin therapy in the management of SIBO.
